(More customer reviews)I'm quite a sound quality junkie, and I was extremely hesitant in purchasing this amp due it's digital nature. I'm quite fond of the Kenwood eXcelon line though, and have an eXcelon DDX8017 head unit, 25th Anniversary components in the front, eXcelon KFC-X192 6.5" in the rear. I needed an amp that could really drive those XXV-04S components, but also needed an amp that didn't get hot (I was installing the amp in a hidden compartment of my vehicle).
A friend of mine also has the 25th anniversary speakers and this amp. He showed me what the amp could do volume wise, and I immediately fell in love. Not only did the amp put out some serious power, but it did so with minimal to no distortion and the best part... the amp stayed cool (my friend also installed the amp into a hidden compartment).
Needless to say, I purchased this amp and had it professionally installed by some friends that run an install shop not too far from home. After it was in... I fired up my head unit, spent 30 minutes tuning the head unit and then I was just floored. This amp was not struggling one bit to drive the 25th anniversary speakers. Also, the amp stays VERY cool. Even on a hot summer day, system blaring, the amp never overheats... even being inside a hidden compartment with little to no ventilation.
