KICKER ZX Series ZX1500.1 - Amplifier - 1-channel Review

KICKER ZX Series ZX1500.1 - Amplifier - 1-channel
Average Reviews:

this amplifier is very powerful at 1500W RMS at 2 ohms, thats right 1500W RMS not 1500W Peak like some other manufacturers, this amp can easily power 2 - 2 ohm Solo Baric 12" L7s or 1 - 2 ohm Solo Baric 12" or whatever combination you choose.
this amp comes with a remote bass control, a 150A fuse, built in crossover and and is quite small actually but big on power, i believe the picture amazon has is of the ZX2500.1
in my install, i use the built in crossovers, bass boost and decided to store my kicker KX3 crossover in the closet and you would not believe that built in crossovers work this great, i didnt until i heard my system.
this system is in my 2000 4dr civic and is placed on the wall of the trunk on the right hand side. this amp gets very very hot but the heat sinks are very effective as this amp does not shut down on me. this amp has thermal protection, short circuit protection, soft start turn on and over current protection.
the gain, crossover and bassboost controls are mounted on top the amplifers with easy to use and easy to access knobs making those tight installs like mine simple. most gain controls are mounted on the side and you need a flathead screwdriver to adjust the gain, in my install i would have to take my amp off the wall to adjust the gain and other settings, i cant imagine a greater inconvenience.
overall a small amp(in terms of size NOT power), extremely powerful and great value for money.

Kicker has long been known for their ability to produce high quality sound equipment. The KX800.2 is no exception. It features easy-to-adjust controls and a paintable shroud to say the least (visit Kicker's web page to get more details). It's peak operating ability is easy to achieve due to the KX800.2 being able to produce maximum output from either 2 ohm in stereo mode or 4 ohm in mono mode (yes, it is bridgeable). Like most other kicker amplifiers, the 800.2 will produce well over it's specs. The true ratings (in watts) will be disclosed with with the data sheet provided by kicker in the amp's packaging. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions. I've had 4 of these along with 4 500.2's, a 600.4, and 2 SX1250.1's.

Went from having a Kicker ZX 1000 Watt Mono to Rockford. Was very skeptical at first, but let me tell you...
It blew my expectations out of the water. It's the best amp i've ever owned. Solid, heavy, huge gain, huge sound. I'm slappin 2 12" Kicker VX with this amp @ 1 ohm. Killer, just killer. I could blow some serious ear drums with a quick bass test from this great amp.
Rockford is the way to go, never knew an amp could be so powerful. Mine BTW was rated at 1242 RMS...tested [per birthsheet]

Replaced a Punch four channel amp with this after popping one of the rear channels in bridged mode for the second time. Plenty of options with this amp, my only concerns with this amp so far is placement of some of the input/outputs and the aesthetics of it.

In 2008 the newest KICKER Solo-Baric L7 Subwoofer remains one of the most capable subwoofers on Earth, with great looks and great sound. And it's the only patented one that provides more cone, more air, and more decibels.

KICKER engineers left it all on the table for this redesigned Solo-Baric L7, taking cues from the award-winning original that debuted as groundbreaking at the turn of the millennium, and then improving on them. Let there be no doubt, it's the most complete KICKER subwoofer ever developed.
Available in 8-, 10-, 12-, and 15-inch models, the Solo-Baric L7 still revolves around the breakthrough SoloKon, the one-piece, injection-molded cone with full-coverage back bracing that pushes more air and creates louder bass than any like-size round subwoofer. It's good enough that KICKER uses SoloKon across the board as the cornerstone for each subwoofer in the KICKER bass-making family.
SoloKon may be a rock star, but it's the unshakeable motor structure behind the scenes that propels it to the forefront. Minor tweaks have given the motor an outstanding rep--dual high-temp voice coils, poly-cotton semi-progressive spider, Spiralead tinsel-lead technology, highly-efficient UniPlate pole-piece/back plate, and a heat-reducing T-cut top plate for enormous power handling. And it's never been cooler with a new solid pole piece that disperses more heat than ever before, and more venting near the SoloKon back brace and spider landing.
The distinctive cast-aluminum basket with spring-loaded terminals wraps around and protects these specialized inner workings, with the Solo-Baric crest branded into the back plate.
The Solo-Baric L7 remains available in 2-Ohm or 4-Ohm DVC and conducts business from a sealed or vented box application.
KICKER S12L7 Features
SoloKon for strength and accuracy
T cut top plate for high magnetic field strength
Aluminum coil former (same as SoloX)
Pole venting at cone brace
Stitched and glued tinsel leads enable high excursion
Ribbed Santoprene surround

Average Reviews:

Kicker is well-known for their ability to produce high-end amplifiers. The SX1250.1 is among Kicker's best amplifiers ever produced. Taking amps a step further, Kicker has introduced the digital amplifier, able to inform you of malfunctions, voltage readings, temperature ratings, and many other need-to-know things. It can also adjust input sensitivity to better match the leads from the deck, ensuring a safer-running system. To further expand your system, a remote can be purchased, giving the driver the ability to controll the amp and view information from the driver's seat. These amps are a great addition to any system and, like most other Kickers, the SX1250.1 will produce above and beyond the specs provided. As an owner of 2, I can attest that one of mine produces 1,410 watts peak while the other is pushing an astounding 1,415 watts. If you have any other questions regarding Kicker amplifiers, please feel free to ask. I am a proud owner of one or more of the following: SX1250.1, ZX750.1, ZR1000, KX800.2, KX500.2, KX600.4.

CompVR-Loaded Sub Boxes provide more crushing but easy-to-install bass in 2007, adding two new sizes of anarchy to go along with its duo of wicked dual-sub boxes--the VCVR12 with a pummeling 12-inch CompVR Subwoofer, and the VCVR15 with a scorching 15-inch CompVR Subwoofer. The VCVR15 will be available this spring.

CompVR Sub Boxes take the reputation and reliability of dual-voice-coiled CompVR Subwoofers and combine them with sturdy KICKER wood enclosures blanketed with rich gray and black carpeting. New-for-2007 CompVR Subs have been tweaked to near perfection, though it's difficult for KICKER acoustic engineers to get much closer. And all CVR Sub Boxes feature a custom-designed, combination vent/terminal cup, where the impedance designator (2 or 4 Ohm) and oversized port share space.
The dual-sub boxes supply the madness with two of KICKER's most proven round woofers to date. Enraged DCVR12 (12-inch CVRs) and DCVR10 (10-inch CVRs) Dual-Sub Boxes furnish fury like nothing else, delivering the blazing bass of a CompVR subwoofer pair.

I did some research to find the best amp for my limited cash. This was mention a few times, but not nearly as much as the zx 1000.1. I went ahead and bought this amp anyways. I am extremely impressed. Right now I have it set up with 2 kicker comp vr 12"'s in a sealed box and man, this thing hits so hard... I got my neighbor who lives about 30 yards away to come out of his house screaming at me to "turn that **** noise off". I was rattling my house's windows.
If you're considering this amp, buy it now. You will not regret it.
Also thank you kicker for listing the RMS Watts instead of Max Output!
