(More customer reviews)Well, I began about 10 years ago piecing my car stereo together. Within 4 years my stereo was complete. Oz audio component matrix speakers (amazing) on the floor (kick panels) and in the doors. Cerwin Vega's in back (decent). JL audio 12" sub in the back and finishing the job was this JL 5 channel amp running all the speakers but the vega's. Head unit was a uber nice nakamichi in-dash.
Thru the years this amp. has never overheated, never caused me any battery problems and just plain sounded astonishing. I've not had a single issue for six years. Coupled with my competition speakers the sound was out of this world. More than plenty clean powerful bass and the SQ of the fronts are just pure as a white dove. I've looked around for other 5 channel amp's but I just don't think anything really compares to this one.
If you want something to run a couple of 15's this probably isn't what you are looking for but if you want a GREAT all around system to sound perfect I would suggest giving this a whirl.

The JL Audio 500/5 is a five-channel system amplifier utilizing patented Absolute Symmetry Class AB technology for its front and rear channels and patented Class D technology for its subwoofer channel. Front and subwoofer channels benefit from JL Audio's exclusive R.I.P.S. power supply design, which optimizes the output of each section for any impedance between 1.5 and 4 ohms per channel.The staggered power distribution of the front and rear channel pairs (100W x 2 for front and 25 x 2 for rear) allows for a wide variety of application options.The 500/5's flexible input and crossover sections permit operation with a wide variety of source units and system configurations. The 500/5 can operate with a single pair of stereo inputs or with separate inputs for front and rear channel pairs, if the source unit is equipped with front and rear outputs. The subwoofer channel can be driven with a discrete signal from a source unit's subwoofer output or can receive its signal from the front and/or rear channel inputs.The 500/5's preamp output can send passthrough signals from the front inputs only, the subwoofer inputs only OR a sum of the front and rear input signals. This allows the connection of additional subwoofer amplifier(s) or full-range amplifiers.

(More customer reviews)Had a boss 1000W amp before.this amp could not drive itself. But this kicker is kicking a$$,it has so much extra
power (1080 tested) that i now cant play my system over a 1/4 volume. I have a polk 6.5" and sony explod 6x9 and they are screaming good. For the sub i have a kicker 10" CVR, but this amp is too much for it. Was told by my installer that i will need a CVR 12" to really benefit from the amp, he also said i need to upgrade my mids to component speakers to handle this power. A capacitor is a must too.
An awesome product which tests at 50% more than advertised. That is,the 5th channel is pushing 600+ watts.

(More customer reviews)This amp, much like all amps, was very easy to install once the proper wiring was in place. The sound quality is EXCELLENT!!!
I am using this amp to push my 6.5" 3-way speakers in my doors, my 6"x9" rear deck speakers and a 10" sub. The entire system sounds amazing!!
The settings on this amp were very easy to figure out.
The only downside to this product is that Infinity does not do a very good job with their product documentation. So there was a bit of searching through the documentation to find information on proper settings for my specific setup.
