(More customer reviews)Excellent for detecting leaks on fuel nozzle, casing piping, fuel nozzle cans and cases on gas turbines; especially on GE 6FA, 7FA and 9FA frame gas turbines. On GE FA(s) you can detect all leaks at LCI crank speed including gas piping/flanges as well air piping/flanges (leaks far too small to feel with your hand or detect with a test rag). For those of you familiar with FA(s), this leak detector is sensitive enough to detect leaks on the PM4 gas header and the PM4 fuel header to fuel nozzle piping/flange at LCI crank speed (no gas in operation and the quad orifice installed on the fuel nozzle). In short, you will not have to start the unit on gas which of course means you want have to heat the unit up to detect leaks on gas or air piping. Which also means you will not have to go through a fired start, a cool down or incur the costs of restart(s) to locate/repair leaks. As a Sr. Corporate Engineer I have purchased these units for each of our sites and as a former GE Gas/Steam Turbine Project Manager/Sr. Field Engineer customers were very happy that I was able to locate and fix all leaks on their unit before a fired start was incurred on Gas Turbines especially on FA(s).
The unit can also detect electrical corona and valve leak-by. With the pod emitter, you can detect pressure vessel/tank leaks before a hydro. Many more uses also. Well worth the money for industrial, automotive and home applications.
