Protective Steel Cargo Barrier for Volvo Review

Protective Steel Cargo Barrier for Volvo
Average Reviews:

This barrier is well worth the money. It is easy to install, looks great and folds up quickly and out of the way when not in use. Works great if you have a dog and don't want it to scratch up the seats. Better that most after-market barriers which can damage the interior or dent the fabric roof panels.
The reseller was great as well. The product shipped immediately and was packed securely.
What isn't mentioned in the product information section is that this barrier comes in a few different colors - so ask for the one that best matches your interior when you order.

Sparco R100 Black/Black Seat Review

Sparco R100 Black/Black Seat

I have a older RX7 that is a street track car. I use it for Autocrossing and Track days, working towards time attacks.
I have a pair of Sprint 5 seats in there. They are great for competitive / track driving but for street driving they are just too harsh.
In anticipation of a 10 hour road trip in the car to the Tail of the Dragon, I decided to get this seat for street driving and comfort while trying to still have some of the support the Sprint 5 has.
Initial impression after installation is this seat will do the job. I still have some of the lateral support but I have more comfort with this seat. I am not sure it would be a good seat for track driving.

TomTom Rider 2 GPS Navigator for Motorcycles and Scooters Review

TomTom Rider 2 GPS Navigator for Motorcycles and Scooters
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I received this unit for Christmas primarily for my bike, but once I purchase the car mount adapter it will be used in the car as well.
This is an excellent unit, to say the least. One reviewer mentioned that it's too difficult to turn the unit on- I say "hogwash". The pushbutton is stiff, yes, but that's done to keep the unit from turning on accidentally while in your jacket pocket or carry bag (and with a touch screen, you can well imagine how much mischief one could accidentally create if it turned on without your knowledge). Ditto with the Scala Rider headset- you don't want the thing accidentally turning on, running the battery down, do you?
Another reviewer mentioned that it doesn't have a "speedometer" or trip meter function- it most certainly does have a speedometer, and what I assume is the "trip meter"- but since TomTom set the unit from the factory to eliminate as much extraneous information as possible, you have to activate it in the menus. Once that has been activated, it'll be there until you turn that feature off. In fact, there are a great number of features you can turn on and off in the menus.
I found the documentation to be adequate, and to the point. The printed documentation is to get you up to speed until you charge the units and turn them on- it's easy sailing after that. The unit is very easy to use, and it has tutorials right on the unit, so in my opinion further paper documentation is rather redundant- actually, I think it's pretty smart on TomTom's part to include tutorials on the unit itself rather than supply a printed book- that way I don't have to carry around the book, as all of the information is already on the unit! They really don't say much about the bike power cable, but I can certainly understand why- it's not possible to provide information about every bike out there, and if you aren't familiar enough with your bike, or can't figure out how to install it, it's probably best to get someone who is (like your bike dealer) to do the installation.
I've got a Motorolla Razr phone, and the TomTom easily hooked up to my phone via Bluetooth, and it painlessly downloaded all of my phone numbers I have stored on the phone (thank you for providing this helpful feature!).
I do wish that it gave the street name when it gives you instructions to turn, but I soon got used to how it works- not only does the display give you very clear instructions on where to turn, it also gives you the street name. Once you get used to it, it's easy. But I would like the option of hearing the street name (my PDA does, but the map display isn't as easy to see as the TomTom). While playing with the unit as my father-in-law drove the car, I discovered one potential issue with having the street name spoken to you- what happens when the street name is changed, but your maps haven't been updated? If you rely on the spoken street name, you might miss it- it's best to take a glance at the screen to make sure you're taking the correct turn (I found one such road- the name has recently been changed, but the map showed the old name instead). Still, I'd prefer to have it spoken, and visually double-check the map.
Overall, I give the TomTom an A-. TomTom, if you're reading this, I'll give you an A+ if you guys update the software so that it'll give you the street name by voice- then you'll have the best bike GPS available! However, I'd still buy the unit as is. It would just increase the functionality by including this feature.

Lowrance iWay 600C 5-inch Portable GPS and Marine Navigator and Chartplotter Review

Lowrance iWay 600C 5-inch Portable GPS and Marine Navigator and Chartplotter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been using my 600c after updating from an earlier model. I've seen other GPS units my friends have, but would never trade theirs for mine. I use mine in the car and on my motorcycle. Like no other GPS, it is visible in broad daylight on my bike.
I like the 640x480 resolution - it provides a lot of detail. I also like that the text overlays on the display are programmable. You position what you want, where you want it, and the size you want it to be. And not just the distance to the next turn & a turn arrow; you can optionally display time, speed, battery voltage, total distance, distance to the next stop, and more. As the user, you decide what you want to see and how you want it to appear.
My wife travels a lot, with numerous stops along the way. For her, it is a simple matter of entering the addresses (which is so easy it can even be done while driving - but shame on anyone for doing that!), and then telling the unit to rearrange the waypoints for the most logical route to take. If you decide to take a scenic route, it will notice within a few feet and nearly instantly reroute you. (Other GPS units want you to turn around. I've only heard the 600c say 'make a U-turn' once!)
I also like the MP3 player. I want to listen to music when I travel, but I don't want the GPS to compete with the radio. By having an MP3 player incorporated into the unit, the music automatically pauses when you need to pay attention to your voice instructions for the next turn. I can also manually pause the music when my cell phone rings.
I was reluctant to spend a lot of money on a GPS, but I am glad I bought this unit. It makes driving a much more relaxed experience. Perhaps unfortunately, I have become dependant on the 600c and cannot travel without it!

Cobra Nav One 4500 5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator Review

Cobra Nav One 4500 5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My wife bought me a Cobra 4500 for Christmas. It's a very attractive vehicle GPS with a big screen, crisp resolution and looks/feels sturdy. However, I have some complaints about the software design that I'd like to share.First, the routing software makes some directional mistakes when on freeways. For instance at freeway interchanges, sometimes it will tell me to get onto the upcoming freeway in the wrong direction (i.e. "keep to the left onto I-10 West" when it should say "keep to the left onto I-10 East"). It will always correct itself at the last second, but the correction usually ends up being just before the ramp. In an unfamiliar city, that would not give me time to make a safe lane change. Also, the 3-D graphics are so poor that I've had to select the traditional map view to navigate. As for traffic, it's hit and miss. Sometimes I get the traffic icon on the map as soon as the radio announces the accident, but sometimes I get it 20 or more minutes later, or not at all! Also, for some unknown reason the software developers decided to program the unit so that the user is unable to get a traffic warning notification pop-up unless a speed reduction was posted with the accident. I've encountered several major accidents where traffic has been at a near standstill, yet the pop-up that allows you to select auto re-route did not come up on the screen (probably because speed reductions are not being posted by the traffic provider, Clear Channel Radio). If the pop-up doesn't activate (which it has yet to do for me), you're forced to use the normal detour function to get around the accident. This process is very cumbersome because you have to zoom in on the icon, look at where the accident is located, and then get to the detour screen so you can select your detour -- not something you want to do in heavy traffic!Hey Cobra, why not let the user decide if he/she wants to be notified of all accidents instead of the unit deciding for us??? I've notified Cobra of all of this and I'm hoping they will come out with a software update to correct these problems. Until then, I'm only lukewarm about the unit.

Enjoy traffic relief while commuting to work or taking a road trip with the Cobra Nav One 4500, the first fully integrated portable navigation system with real-time traffic updates. The plug-and-play GPS navigator features a matchbook-sized traffic receiver that offers up-to-the-minute information on traffic accidents, congested roads, and construction zones in 48 major metropolitan areas across the U.S. As the unit receives the traffic data--which transmits via an FM radio feed from Tele Atlas N.V. and Clear Channel's Total Traffic Network--it processes the information and automatically suggests alternate routes, letting the driver detour around the worst snarls and enjoy a stress-free commute. It's the perfect unit for frustrated commuters and other folks who spend much of their day in the car.
The Nav One 4500 offers more than just traffic updates, however. It also comes preloaded with searchable North American street-level detail maps and more than 7.6 million points of interest--more than any other portable device. The points of interest are organized into nine general categories, including amusement, automotive, medical, and travel, and then further sorted into approximately 200 subcategories. Drivers can also customize the route preferences to make traveling easier. Don't want to deal with stoplight-heavy streets or particularly curvy roadways? Simply program the Nav One 4500 to meet your criteria and it'll find the best route for your needs.
Once you've chosen the destination, the Nav One 4500 provides turn-by-turn directions and voice guidance on its 5-inch color touch-screen display. The screen produces up to twice the brightness of other units in daylight mode, making it easy to read even in the mid-day sun. It also offers 3-D views for easier navigation, along with 14 levels of map zoom and exclusive terrain display, making it simple for the directionally challenged to find their way.
Additional features include an address book that holds up to 1,000 addresses in 20 customizable folders; multi-stop routing for drivers with complex itineraries; proprietary iASAP technology that provides for faster satellite acquisition and uninterrupted navigation in urban canyons and dense foliage; and a traffic antenna that attaches easily to the Nav One 4500 mount and moves with the unit from vehicle to vehicle. The Nav One 4500, which mounts conveniently on your dash, comes with a free three-month subscription for the traffic service, which afterward costs $59.95 per year.

Atlantis X-5600 5.6-Inch Portable GPS Navigator Review

Atlantis X-5600 5.6-Inch Portable GPS Navigator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It is somewhat difficult to rate this product, as it has both pluses and minuses.
On the positive side:
1. The 5.6" screen is a real plus. I'm glad I got that size and not something smaller.
2. It does a good job showing upcoming turns and intersections.
3. It recalculates routes quickly.
On the negative side:
1.When the unit is first turned on, while it sometimes finds the satellites in a few minutes, it often takes 15-20 minutes. I have not been able to discern any real pattern as to how long it takes to find the satellites. For a while, I thought that putting the vehicle in motion before turning the unit on caused the problem, but now I am not sure that that is the case.
On a recent trip through Alabama, it had the satellites, then lost them for about an hour before finding them again.
2. It cannot find a location by road intersection. This would be a helpful feature.
3. Elevation is given in yards ASL. What good is that? I don't know of anyone who uses yds ASL.
4. I am not sure what time zone ETA is in. It appears to be in Pacific Standard Time. I have not found anything that tells for sure what time zone ETA is in or if it can be reset to my local time.
5. Included with the unit is a DVD with instructions and backup maps. That would be fine IF my computer had a DVD reader. They should also offer a CD.
6. The unit sometimes is slow to recognize that I want to take a by-pass around a city rather than going straight through like it wants to do.
As to the company itself, I am not sure what is going on there. The Quick Start Manual contains a Registration and Order Form, but no address on where to send it and no shipping/handling cost table. Also, I sent them an e-mail six weeks ago asking some questions and have yet to receive a reply.
Given the relatively low price for a unit with a 5.6" screen, perhaps I shouldn't expect a lot out of it. However, a little bit of software improvement would make for a lot better unit.

I purchased this item to put it in my kid's car becuase of the design of the enclosure moreso than anything else. (Space saving) The fact that it was amplified just simplified the process, or so I thought.
Went to have it and a Kenwood head unit installed, and the guy at the install shop said the wiring set-up from the amplifier negated the usage of the RCA inputs on the back of the radio, which has a sub-out RCA. That Sucked! Now there is less command / separation of the bass signals between the interior speakers and the sub.
Overall, the design is still the key element. You can't beat beaing able to have an amplified sub tucked away in the corner of the trunk bangin' away while still being able to have 90% usage of the trunck itself. MTX hook'd it up with this one for the little Neon! Good investment of $350!

Cobra GPSM 7700 Pro 7-Inch Widescreen Portable Truck GPS Navigator Review

Cobra GPSM 7700 Pro 7-Inch Widescreen Portable Truck GPS Navigator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this unit for to use primarily in a truck because of the large 7" screen. Right off the bat, I was disappointed because the screen resolution is very poor. While driving, as roads on the screen get larger, the poor resolution makes them blocky and jumpy. Honestly, I haven't seen graphics this poor since I upgrade my PC from CGA to EGA! My first thought was, Why doesn't the screen look as clear as it does in all the advertising pictures, and Why don't the colors match the nice crisp green that's shown Cobra's web site and elsewhere? So I called Cobra's tech support number, and was told that the product pictures on the web site and the product box and virtually everywhere else where only "artists concepts" and not pictures of the actual product! How's that for truth in advertising! Although the multi-stop trip feature is good (it does show both the mileage to the next stop as well as the total trip mileage) there is no way to sort or group your locations. If you've got a lot of locations inputted and you want to find one at the end of the alphabet, you've got to scroll through the whole alphabet to get there. May not be a big deal to some, but it is annoying. Here's the worst thing about the unit, and the thing that made me finally get rid of it... you CAN NOT zoom in or out while in navigation mode. The ONLY way to change the zoom level is to leave the navigation screen, go to the set-up screen, change the zoom setting, save your changes, AND THEN SHUT THE UNIT OF AND TURN IT BACK ON! Totally unacceptable! I like to keep the unit zoom out so I can see intersections and ramps coming up a mile or two away while on the highway, and then zoom in down to city block level when in the city or a more urban area. I've got two other units, a SONY for the car and now a Rand McNally TND-500 for the truck and this is a standard feature on both units. Bottom line... unless your virtually blind, stay away from this unit (and if your eyesight is that bad, you probably shouldn't be driving anyway.)

Associated Equipment 6001A 6-12 Volt Battery Charger Review

Associated Equipment 6001A 6-12 Volt Battery Charger
Average Reviews:

We received the charger in a timely manner with little to no damage from shipping. However, the charger did not work. We had to trouble shoot the unit and found internal wiring not connected. I spent my anticipated savings correcting the assembly problem. Even after all this, I will continue to purchase on-line.

Jensen NVX-1000 4-Inch Portable GPS Navigator Review

Jensen NVX-1000 4-Inch Portable GPS Navigator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros: large hard drive, lots of POI's, colorful accurate maps.
Cons: slow performance, poor FM transmitter quality, poor PC integration, poor route navigator calculator, infrequent lockups, MP3 playback kills performance even further.
Summary: I previously had a Tomtom GO 300 which got stolen from my vehicle, so I replaced it with the Jensen because it was on sale. There are some advantages that the Jensen has over the Tomtom, such as its maps tend to be much more accurate and uptodate, with much more POI's. The Jensen comes with a huge 12GB hard drive rather than on a flash-based storage, though you can add SD flash to it through a slot; but this seems to be redundant, as the hard drive is more than big enough.
The unit uses Windows CE 5.0 as its operating system, which might explain it poor performance. But despite this, there doesn't seem to be a way to upgrade the OS, and surprisingly there isn't very much PC integration available. With Tomtom, they gave you a CD with a PC app that was used to update and upgrade its GPS units. Nothing of the sort exists for Jensen, the CD comes with only documentation. Plugging the Jensen into a PC USB port just makes its internal hard drive show up, which you can then use to copy files from your PC hard drives to the Jensen hard drive. But there's no integration between them otherwise.
The unit frequently comes up with poor choices of routes, despite having good quality accurate maps available. For example, even if you have set it up to use the fastest route, it usually ends up picking the shortest route instead, which isn't necessarily the fastest route. Also it picks up the satellites extremely slowly, it will sometimes not pick them up even after 10 minutes! And even when it has picked up the satellites, it's navigation speed is poor, it doesn't seem to keep up with the actual position of the vehicle very well.
Don't bother using its built-in FM transmitter to tune your radio to it. The quality of the sound is terrible, lots of interference noise comes through all of the time. And don't bother using its MP3 playback either. Not only would you need to listen to the music through this crappy FM transmitter, playing MP3's also kills its performance while navigating. It really can't multitask very well.
The unit seems to be packed with a lot of interesting features, at least on paper. But it hasn't been implemented well. A jack of all trades, a master of none.

Refurbished Navman iCN 550 Vehicle GPS Navigation System Review

Refurbished Navman iCN 550 Vehicle GPS Navigation System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Don't waste your money. I already own an icn510 which is great. I purchased this item for the other car expecting it to be newer and better. What I got was a unit that frequently froze up requiring me to pull over and reboot the system, (especially time consuming on the highway). Also it fails to indicate the name of the next street approx 30% of the time leaving you completely baffled if there are more than 1 street within 300 feet, which is not uncommon. Finally the only accent loud enough to hear are the British ones which use british terms such as motor way etc, can be annoying if you are use to words like highway etc. All in all a very frustrating device. Leave it to Navman to make a second generation device that is inferior to the first. Congrats, you can keep this POS.

TomTom GO 920T Portable GPS Vehicle Navigator with Traffic Receiver Review

TomTom GO 920T Portable GPS Vehicle Navigator with Traffic Receiver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this over two weeks ago at Best Buy, here in Los Angeles for $599.99! Yes folks, thanks to Best Buy's notorious price difference on the web and in their infamous intranet, I made them honor what I saw at home on my computer! And yes, this was for the TomTom 920T!
It is slimmer, lighter, nicer and loaded with more features than any other portable GPS device in the market! Functions within the TomTom 920T are very similar to other models. I upgraded from the 910 and did notice some very good changes in its software, and in its ability to do a bit more configuration than on the TomTom 910.
One of the things that I like the most, aside from its new redesigned shape was its ability to search for different POI's (Points Of Interest) with better matching results while at the same time providing you a lot of additional information, such as distance, physical address, map overview, phone number (if available) and yes, the ability to dial it directly.
By the way, this is something that Garmin GPS devices have always been able to do, including searching restaurants by food type, e.g. Italian, Mexican, Chinese, etc. With the exception of this last search feature, I do believe that the new TomTom takes it one step further, which is good.
This upgraded feature is very important, because as most TomTom users know, previous versions of TomTom POI search, would just result in a long list of POI's matching what ever you input and nothing more. For example, if you typed Best Buy, you would get a list of all Best Buy stores in the county, but without any distance information, map preview, address or phone number!
This would obviously force you to route each resulting POI one by one, until you finally obtained the one that you really wanted, which was a waste of time! Well, not any more and I am very glad that TomTom made this very necessary upgrade!
Here is a list of things that I noticed:
The light sensor gone from the top and now sitting very discreetly in the front.
The remote control has been improved and is now Bluetooth.
It seems to me that it is somewhat faster in performing any commands faster than its predecessor.
Accepting spoken directions is a plus and has worked well for me so far, no complaints.
The screen is huge and seems to have been improved, because I now can see everything much better than on the previous model in bright sunny days.
The speaker sounds fragile with the default voice, compared to the 910, but sounds much better with a human voice and the music sounds great!
You can now hear all instructions through your car speakers by tuning it to an empty radio station. I tried it, but did not like it at all, too much static and sound is extremely low, could be because I live in downtown Los Angeles.
The included RF transmitter is a winner, it is very accurate in obtaining traffic data and I notice that it does so upon turning it on and it updates itself periodically as I am driving. However, it would have been better if they would have built it into the unit in order to avoid another wire from hanging from the unit.
Phone integration is great and fast, the sound quality is very good and I have been told by people who I call that it sounds very good. I make and receive between 200 to 300 calls a day, so this is a plus! Unfortunately, it does not sync well with my Palm Treo 750, so I miss out on many other TomTom extra features that requre my cell phone in order to be able to obtain data, such as weather information, map downloads, gas prices, etc.
I also do notice that its ability not to lose signal is improved, which is good, since as I have already mentioned, I live in downtown LA.
The included software is also great and much better than previous versions of TomTom Home.
What's in the box? The TomTom 910, the RF transmitter, car charger, windshield cradle, desktop cradle, remote control, software and manuals.
All in all it is a great GPS unit, very nicely and intelligently designed and the only reason I do not give it a 5 is because of the use of an external RF transmitter, instead of a built in one and lack of important travelling tools, such as those found in several of the Garmin units.
I feel that TomTom, given their current market share and being so strong in Europe should include different measurement and currency conversion tools, as well as a different language translator and a virtual tour guide program similar to those found in several of the Garmin units.
This thing fits in the pocket of your shirt! If I were sightseeing in France, I would want to have access to these types of tools!
However, to be fair, the new TomTom 920T does include a several great features not found in other units, specifically the Help Me feature which, will assist you in many emergencies such as in letting you know where you are, instruct you where to walk to your closest emergency assistance point or even guide you in applying first aid!
I highly recommended to anyone and I do hope that TomTom will improve their already magnificent product with the suggestions that I have made, maybe one day TomTom will team up with Google and provide similar information as MSN does for the Garmin NUVI.

Clarion EZ58TMCPK Bluetooth Interface with NAVRDS Review

Clarion EZ58TMCPK Bluetooth Interface with NAVRDS
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I picked up one of these EZD580s about a week ago. In the box are the unit, car-mounting hardware, a USB-to-mini USB cable and some instructions sheets. I would think that it will be great and A-OK because it seems to work well. It came out of the box with the battery at 81% charged. But this is where I get stuck. It comes with a directions sheet for mounting the unit in your car, and a Quick Start guide for routing and street directions. But nothing in any of the included reference material tells one how long to charge, or recharge, the battery, or if there is an AC Charger available for this unit. I konw that the USB-to-mini USB cable is for charging the unit on your computer, but how long do you charge it? On the Clarion website, there is a "Product Manual" available for download. I downloaded and printed the "Product Manual" and guess what - in the entire 71 pages, there is not one word regarding the charging and recharging of the battery, and also nothing about an AC Cahrger. The Product Manual does go into precise detail on how to select route guidance and street directions, the device's settings, etc. But nothing on step number 1 - charging the battery! The battery charging issue aside, though, this is a real good unit. It has a big screen with easy to read text and numbers. You can use the included stylus or use your fingers to access the various menu items. When I initially turned it on, it took about a minute or two (which is normal for GPS devices) to locate the GPS signal. Once it locked in on the signal, it was easy rollin'. Entering your destinations, referencing the Points Of Interest, etc., are fairly intuitive, making this GPS unit fairly easy to use without getting an advanced scientific degree. On the negative side, support from Clarion is absolutely NON-EXISTANT. Calling the telephone numbers on the Clarion website results in a literal circle of recorded messages.

UVIEW 590150 MIST (Mobile Interior Sonic Treatment) Ultrasonic Cleaning Unit Review

UVIEW 590150 MIST (Mobile Interior Sonic Treatment) Ultrasonic Cleaning Unit
Average Reviews:

This machine is part of a 3 step process my company uses to remove odors from cars and hotel rooms. I gave it 4 stars because it is hard to level the product which is necessary for it to run. Occasionally the chemical that you use in it will leak out and can sometimes stain your carpet. Also, while they recommend to empty the solution out after each application, that is not always easy to do. The last thing you need to watch out for is occasionally one of these units will have a very stiff spring in the cigarette lighter adapter and will be hard to remove. I actually pulled the whole thing out of my dash once before I figured out a way around it. My advice is not to buy this if you just want to remove an odor from your car every so often. It's not cost effective, and it won't get rid of everything. Call a professional
