After paying this much for an amp, my expectations were quite high.
The amp exceeded every expectation I had.
First- The build quality is absolutely top rate. The removable connectors fit very tightly. The removable control panel has a positive lock so it can not vibrate or make noise. The RCA inputs are of excellent quality. A nice touch is that you can mount the amp on either side. This was nice because in my installation it worked better to have the back side facing up.
The next thing I observed after the installation was how low the noise floor really was. I could not hear it. The noise I could barely hear was actually coming from the source deck. I measured the noise floor at -109 Db with an Audio Precision Portable 1. That is the best I have ever measured on a car audio device. The ground isolated RCA inputs are a nice touch. No ground loops are possible.
In my installation I am using it to power a set of JBL 660GTi speakers in bi-amp mode.
I was worried that the anti-clipping circuitry or being a full digital amp would color the sound. I had nothing to worry about. The sound is very smooth and the transients are sharp and clear, but not harsh. When driven hard, I could detect the anti-clipping circuitry activating, but it was not too objectionable.
I was surprised that the amp is quite efficient. The fuse size is only 50A, for a 600 watt RMS amp.
I am very satisfied with this purchase.

After ordering my Sundown Audio SAX-125.2 amplifier, I received a call from customer service. They told me the shipping date was actually bumped up and I would be receiving my package earlier than expected! This was a nice surprise and great way to begin a relationship with the company. I researched many 2 channel and 4 channel amps online and was in the market for a solid amp for my mids & highs in my 2002 Chevy Camaro. With a solid set of Digital Designs components in the front stage and a set of JL Audio C2 Evolution coaxials for rear fill, I previously used a Kicker ZX350.2 amp for the front and ran the rear fill off my Kenwood KDC-X794 head unit. After about 3 months my Kicker amp fried so I wanted a reliable sturdy amp that would last and was less concerned with price, more concerned with quality. The features of the SAX-125.2 consist of:

Paying the little bit extra for this over similar amps can actually save you some money, since the balanced inputs let you use it with stock headunits that send out a balanced signal - usually Bose or other factory premium headunits (not that Bose is premium in anything but price, but I digress). It also accepts both low-level and speaker-level inputs, so purchasing a separate line-output converter is not necessary if you're running it off of a headunit that doesn't have low-level outputs. The signal sensing technology lets you get away without running a remote power signal if using the speaker-level inputs, which is particularly helpful if you are still running a stock headunit which doesn't have such a wire already.
So basically, this amp can be connected to any aftermarket or factory headunit without adding anything but power and audio signal wires.
As with any amp, make sure you measure the dimensions for where you intend to mount this.

Well, I began about 10 years ago piecing my car stereo together. Within 4 years my stereo was complete. Oz audio component matrix speakers (amazing) on the floor (kick panels) and in the doors. Cerwin Vega's in back (decent). JL audio 12" sub in the back and finishing the job was this JL 5 channel amp running all the speakers but the vega's. Head unit was a uber nice nakamichi in-dash.
Thru the years this amp. has never overheated, never caused me any battery problems and just plain sounded astonishing. I've not had a single issue for six years. Coupled with my competition speakers the sound was out of this world. More than plenty clean powerful bass and the SQ of the fronts are just pure as a white dove. I've looked around for other 5 channel amp's but I just don't think anything really compares to this one.
If you want something to run a couple of 15's this probably isn't what you are looking for but if you want a GREAT all around system to sound perfect I would suggest giving this a whirl.

I have two sets of C-5's in my Infiniti G35 powered by a JL Audio XD400/4. Any music I listen to, these speakers take it to a whole new level. I'm really glad I spent the money. If you buy these speakers, make sure you at least Dynamat the front doors. Not just one piece, the entire door! These high end speakers need to be installed the right way. Spend the money on Dynamat and do it right.

I bought 2 of these subs 2 weeks ago and wow. the performance is amazing i have them hooked up to a rockford t 1500 1bd and in a ported box. the box is massive but if you have the trunk space definetly worth buying. these subs hit so hard my roof flexes. its hard to describe in words the bass impact that these subs produce but you feel every baseline in your back.

i recently installed this amp and i have a kicker cvx 12 wired down in parallel for a 2 ohms load for a 700 watt rms output let me tell u the sub and the amp are like a match made in heaven the sound quality is superb and has my sub knockin at 700 watts rms i couldnt believe that amazon had this for so cheap and i was a bit skeptical at first for that matter but when i ordered it and it got to my house i could see that it wasnt very flashy like other monoblocks and when i installed it i saw why,jl audio got down to bussiness.lol.i recomend this amp to any body who wants tight and clean bass i promise u wont regret it,my only regret is getting a 4 ohm dvc sub instead of a 2 ohm sub

This is an interesting subwoofer. When I first recieved it, I thought to myself, why are low end frequencies so weak?! At the time the sub was enclosed in a sealed 1.25 cu ft box. I later had to take the sub out of the car after an accident (luckily it wasnt damaged), and had it laying around at home. I later got my hands on a great sub-box modeling software (winISD) and started playing around with settings. Made a custom 6cu ft box with the vented port tuned at 25hz, and man is it different. This sub has become a complete beast. At 30hz I went from from 106db all the way to 120db. 40hz is now 118db compared to 110db. I am convinced JL audio now has one the best subs around. BTW this is being power by a Samson studio amp outputing 600rms (peaks at 650ish) at 2ohms. So if you already have the sub, get a bigger box guys, HUGE diffence. Sorry about the long review, just wanted to share my experience with everyone. If I had to do it all over again, I think I wouldve done the 13w7 instead, sometimes I really wanna crank it up and start dropping pictures off the wall but the sub isnt powerful enough for that :P
